Accomodating students

This accommodation will be

Provide the student with formal social skills training. He or she may have difficulty processing information communicated via overhead projection, through video, in graphs and charts, by email, or within web-based distance learning courses. Difficulty Staying on Task Seat the student close to the teacher.

Time and space will be an administrative issue. Allow the student to have an extra set of books at home. Provide a place in the classroom where a student can go to regain control. Make sure the student has the necessary materials.

Check on progress often in the first few minutes of work. When teaching a lesson, state objectives, review previous lessons, and summarize periodically. The student with a disability is responsible for meeting all course requirements using only approved accommodations.

Provide or help the student develop checklists. This accommodation will be facilitated if you can identify students in the class who might be appropriate to assume this role. Use captioned videos and know how to turn on the captioning feature. If expanded budgets are affordable, cuts of existing programs will not reduce opportunities for students without disabilities. Ignore minor inappropriate behaviors when possible.

Give all students an opportunity to view a video multiple times e. Test Anxiety or Difficulty Provide training in how to take tests.

Fundamental Alterations of the athletic activity or the impairment of the purpose of the regulation. There are a number of things instructors can do while planning a course to make it more accessible to all students, including those with learning disabilities. Limited opportunity for athletic participation is provided to students with disabilities, a circumstance many parents have begun to challenge. Read aloud what you write on the board or present on an overhead visual.

Provide regular reinforcement and feedback. Accommodations can be changed during the semester if all parties agree.

What trips them up might be writing their ideas legibly, or doing calculations accurately, or following all of the steps in the instructions. Described below are some of the functional limitations that may require accommodations. Training of officials will undergo changes. Allow a distraction-free place for testing.
